Raymond Domenech has never been a man willing to keep his opinions to himself.
The 67-year-old famously dropped players from the French national team because of their star signs, accused Arsene Wenger of ‘outrageous’ and ‘scandalous’ behaviour after William Gallas suffered an injury before the 2010 World Cup, and even called Bayern Munich legend Franck Ribery ‘stupid’.
So it should be no real surprise that one of the most controversial and outspoken managers of his generation has taken aim at Marcelo Bielsa after Leeds United collapsed in arguably their biggest game in 13 years on Wednesday night.
Leeds were two goals up on aggregate in their play-off semi final clash with Derby County before conceding three in quick succession either side of half-time.
Even Stuart Dallas’ wonderful individual goal counted for nothing as a Whites side who finished the second leg with ten men lost 4-2 at Elland Road, their dreams of Premier League football slipping away.
“A little thought this morning for fans of Bielsa who once again ended the season in fishtail. Beaten by Derby in the shootout while leading 2/0. Dirty season,” Domenech wrote on Twitter.
We can only assume ‘fishtail’ means something pretty bad in French.
