Celtic reportedly want Bournemouth striker Lys Mousset in a swap deal.
Celtic need a major rebuild this summer, no matter who their manager is next season, and Neil Lennon appears to have found a striker to target.
The Bhoys have a host of players set to leave, and with Vakoun Issouf Bayo making no impact since his January arrival, another striker is bound to be wanted.
Now, the Daily Mail report that Celtic want Bournemouth striker Lys Mousset, who has been barely seen at the Vitality Stadium having made one Premier League appearance this past season.
The 23-year-old did make 23 substitute appearances, scoring one goal, but he’s fourth-choice striker at best with the Cherries, and a summer move may happen.
However, it’s claimed that with Bournemouth wanting £10million for Mousset, Celtic may look to strike a swap deal instead, leaving many to wonder just who could be sent to the South Coast.
Intriguingly, The Scottish Sun reported last summer that Bournemouth want to sign Celtic’s Callum McGregor for around £10million, meaning the valuations may at least be close now.
McGregor, 25, has racked up 15 assists this season, which has unsurprisingly attracted interest, and he could bring quality to the Bournemouth midfield alongside Jefferson Lerma.
Few other Celtic players fit the bill, unless James Forrest is targeted as a Ryan Fraser replacement, and Celtic would have to consider whether giving up such key players is really worth it in order to get Mousset.
