Barry Ferguson has warned Celtic youngster Karamoko Dembele that there will be 'a lot expected' of him as he could potentially make his debut against Hearts on Sunday.

The Scotsman claim that the highly-rated 16-year-old is in line to play against Hearts in the Scottish Premiership on the final day of the regular season.

Despite his young age, Dembele has been talked about for some while now as he has made his way through Celtic's youth system over these past few years.

Speaking to PLZ Soccer (15/05/2019), Ferguson admitted that Dembele has a lot of qualities, but warned that there is 'a lot of pressure' on such young shoulders.

"Well, there has been so much hype around this young kid," Ferguson told PLZ Soccer. "Obviously playing with Scotland and England and signing the big contract with Celtic.

"I'm pretty sure a lot of the Celtic fans will be looking forward to seeing him in a Celtic jersey. There will be a lot of pressure on him because there's a lot expected.

"I've not seen enough of him. I've only seen him on YouTube because I was nosey enough to have a look to see what everyone was talking about. But you can see the guys got loads of quality and ability."

It remains to be seen what part Dembele plays in the game, but either way, the Parkhead faithful will be eager to see him in action on the big stage.

Neil Lennon will want a reaction from his players after they were beaten by their Old Firm rivals last time out, not forgetting that they'll want some momentum for the Scottish Cup final.

Hearts will be their opponents for that match, so it remains to be seen how many changes Lennon will make for the Premiership encounter before they face off at Hampden.
