Graham Potter will reportedly replace Chris Hughton at Premier League Brighton – but will Daniel James join him in leaving Championship side Swansea City?
Graham Potter has told Swansea that he wants to take over at Brighton and, according to TEAMtalk, he could be joined at the Amex by coveted winger Daniel James.
The former Ostersunds boss is expected to replace Chris Hughton at the Premier League club, the latter being sacked in rather controversial fashion Monday after Brighton finished the 2018/19 campaign just two points above the relegation zone.
Swansea are willing to let Potter go as long as Brighton pay his £3 million compensation clause. And, according to TEAMtalk, the 43-year-old has already decided on his number one transfer target – Wales international James.
The 21-year-old emerged as one of the Football League’s most exciting talents during an exceptional breakthrough campaign in which he scored five goals and produced 15 assists. James has been linked with some of England’s biggest clubs as a result with Manchester United heavily tipped to sign him on Friday by Sky Sports.
But Potter believes that a move to Brighton would be better for James’ development and he has apparently informed Swansea of his intention to take the jet-heeled forward with him to the top flight.
James is valued at around £10 million.
