Poker is the main attraction mentioned in the patch notes for Red Dead Redemption 2 online update 1.09.
Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 has been out since late October, but its online component is only just coming out of the Beta phase with update 1.09. The update includes poker, new story missions and more according to the patch notes.
Red Dead Redemption 2 was 2018’s game of the year next to God Of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man, yet the positive reception soon turned sour thanks to its good, bad, and ugly online component.
The online mode was heavily criticised for its excessive grinding, insulting economy, and lack of features, but the newest update appears to at least address the latter.

Red Dead Redemption 2‘s update 1.09 primarily affects the online portion, and it is roughly 3 GB in size on the PlayStation 4.
The new features for Red Dead Online mentioned in the patch notes are:
- · Lemat Revolver
- · New outfits and clothing (including a Poncho)
- · New Story Missions (Co-op and Free Roam)
- · Defensive and Offensive Options are now available
- · Poker (Public and Private games)
- · New Overrun Showdown mode
- · New Dynamic events
- · Balancing and Improvements
Red Dead Redemption 2 was and still remains the best open-world video game since The Witcher 3, but a return to the wild west isn’t in my plans as the online landscape isn’t my idea of paradise.
However, for cowboys who still crave the chaos of the wild west, update 1.09 is a perfect excuse to reclaim your steed and ready your pistols.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. And, according to the grapevine, it’s also coming to PC.
