Aston Villa are into the Championship play-off final after beating West Bromwich Albion on penalties last night – and they did it in front of Neil Lennon.

Villa lost 1-0 on the night as Craig Dawson scored the only goal of the game, meaning the two sides drew 2-2 and were forced to go all the way to penalties.

Jed Steer was the hero for Villa, saving two penalties to send Dean Smith's side into the final at Wembley Stadium later this month.

One interesting note from the game is that Celtic's interim boss Neil Lennon was at the game, spotted in the stands to spark transfer rumours about who could be joining the Bhoys.

The Telegraph note that West Brom aren't interested in making Lennon their new boss, so it was surely a transfer mission – even with Lennon not confirmed as the new Celtic manager on a full-time basis.

So who was Lennon watching? Well, loanees Mason Holgate and Jacob Murphy may fit the bill, as well as Fulham-owned Stefan Johansen, who Lennon signed for Celtic back in 2014.

Scotland international Matt Phillips ticks some boxes, as does defender Dawson with Celtic needing new signings at the back once Dedryck Boyata and Filip Benkovic move on.

On the Villa side, centre backs Tyrone Mings and Axel Tuanzebe would be ideal, and are only on loan. The same goes for Anwar El Ghazi, with other players either not quite fitting the bill or unlikely to join.

Wingers and defenders are what Celtic may look for, and some potentially available players in those positions played last night, and one of them may well have been Lennon's target.
