Glasgow Rangers have announced that Kieran Wright’s contract at Ibrox has been extended until the end of next season.

A number of fans have taken to Twitter to congratulate Kieran Wright after Rangers confirmed on social media that they have extended his contract until the end of next season.

The 19-year-old is one of a number of talented goalkeepers on the books at Ibrox. And the club have provided an indication of how hopeful they are about his future by extending his contract by a further year.

Wright is yet to feature for Steven Gerrard’s side, but spent some of this season on loan with Scottish League One outfit Raith Rovers, making 10 appearances, keeping two clean sheets.

It is going to be a difficult task for Wright to break into the senior side at Rangers anytime soon given the amount of depth available to Gerrard.

Robby McCrorie is the youngster that plenty of Gers fans are most excited about, while Andy Firth is also in the pecking order, having joined the club during the January transfer window.

But there are several Rangers fans suggesting that Wright deserves his new deal, so it would appear that they are backing him to push some of his rivals in the coming months.

Here is the tweet announcing the deal along with some of the reaction…
