Aston Villa will play either Leeds United or Derby County in the play-off final.

Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish has lauded the qualities and energy levels of Leeds United and Derby County after his side reached the play-off final on Tuesday night.

The Villa playmaker was asked whether he had a preference on who he would like to face at Wembley and he stated ‘no, not at all’. Either way, whoever does join Villa in those finals it will no doubt be a mouthwatering occasion.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side will host Derby at Elland Road on Wednesday night after beating them 1-0 in the first leg over the weekend.

Speaking to Sky Sports Football moments after Villa beat West Brom on penalties (14/05/2019 at 10:50 pm), Grealish shared his thoughts on Villa’s potential opponents in a few weeks time.

On whether he has a preference: “No, not at all,” Grealish told Sky Sports Football. “They are both brilliant teams. We played against them both this season. Both young and energetic teams like ourselves, so whoever we play will be tough, but we’ll go for it.”

It was a very edgy and nerve-racking game at The Hawthorns as Villa beat their Midland rivals on penalties to secure another trip to Wembley.

If the Leeds and Derby game follows suit then it’ll just add to the drama that the Championship provides and this fixture has provided since the Spygate incident in January.

There is no doubt that Leeds will be favourites to progress because they have a one-goal lead and they are now playing in front of their own supporters.

If Leeds meet Villa in the play-off final then it will be a titanic battle and no doubt one of, if not the biggest game in playoff history.
