How Black Mirror's Andrew Scott became one of TV's biggest stars

Sherlock - Moriarty, Andrew Scott

The actor Andrew Scott is set to appear in the new series of Netflix's Black Mirror

It was revealed in today's brand new trailer for Season 5 of Netflix's dystopian TV show Black Mirror that Andrew Scott, of Fleabag and Sherlock fame, will take on a starring role in one of the new season's episodes.

But how has the 42-year-old Irish actor made such a name for himself in recent years?

Scott's acting career has been active since the late 90s with his most prestigious role in those early years coming as 'Soldier #15' in Stephen Speilberg's Saving Private Ryan.

It wasn't until 2010 when Scott really burst onto the scene thanks to his dazzling performance as Jim Moriarty in the BBC series Sherlock

Since then, Scott has gone on to appear in another of BBC One's hottest shows, Fleabag, as well as the most recent James Bond movie, Spectre.

It's not hard to see why viewers have taken to Scott. His charismatic and lively performances have added so much to the characters he's played in Sherlock and Fleabag, giving them an almost child-like enthusiasm, which is why his more muted performance in Bond's most recent outing, Spectre, left a lot to be desired.

Judging from the new Black Mirror trailer, released just this morning, Scott appears to be back to his regular skittish shelf and we can't wait to see the actor come bouncing onto our screens when the new series drops early next month.
