In an interview with the Manchester Evening News, Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has given his views on who could take the armband off him in the future.

City brushed aside Brighton on the final day of the season to get their hands on their fourth league title in the last eight years. Pep Guardiola has led his side to back to back league titles and is on the right track to achieve a domestic treble if they beat Watford in the final of the FA Cup this weekend.

Kompany's goal against Leicester City made all the difference, allowing City to pip Liverpool to the title. The skipper has cemented his status as a club legend but filling his boots once he leaves will be a monumental task.

Speaking about who could be City's next skipper, Kompany surprisingly revealed that Bernardo Silva is worthy of the captain's armband should he mature soon.

The Belgian joked about how Silva is half a clown and half a leader and revealed that he can take up the skipper's role at the Etihad if his leadership skills increase in the coming seasons.

Kompany was quoted saying: "I say to him often you are 50% clown, 50% leader. When he becomes 25% clown, 75% leader he will become the captain of this team. He is so strong and to be honest there is nobody who deserves this title more."

Silva has had an outstanding season for the Champions for whom he has directly contributed to 25 goals in all competitions. Such high praise from the skipper should come in as a real joy for the Portuguese international but he is still only 24 and he has a lot of time to get his hands on the armband.
