Tottenham Hotspur fans have hit out at Liverpool’s James Milner, after he suggested to his side’s official website that the Reds deserve to lift the Champions League.

Tottenham and Liverpool will meet in Madrid on June 1st, as they compete for Europe’s biggest prize.

And Milner claims that Liverpool’s form in the Premier League, where they picked up 97 points but came second, means that they deserve to win silverware.

“Unfortunately it's just short, but obviously what we did earlier in the week [versus Barcelona] gives us a chance to go and redeem ourselves and get a piece of silverware because I think everyone deserves a bit of silverware.

"I think the team especially, these boys, how they grind out results.”

Tottenham supporters insist that Liverpool do not deserve the Champions League any more than they do though.

Tottenham and Liverpool both made it to the final in hugely dramatic circumstances.

Liverpool turned around a 3-0 deficit against Barcelona in the semi-final the day before Tottenham managed to achieve the same feat against Ajax.

Tottenham have never won the Champions League before, making this one of the biggest games in the club’s history.
