Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves has described Liverpool as a great team, on the club’s official website.

Wolves were beaten 2-0 at Anfield last weekend, but they were not humiliated by Liverpool.

Wolves proved a tough opponent for Jurgen Klopp’s men and Neves was proud of his side’s performance.

“It was a difficult game. We all know what Liverpool is, how Liverpool play, but I think we did a great game,” he said.

“We lost 2-0 but mainly in the second half we controlled really well the game. We had our chances to score, but Liverpool is a great team, they had a little bit more go and unfortunately we lost, but we left with a great performance I think.”

Liverpool’s victory over Wolves was not enough to push them to the top of the Premier League table, with Klopp’s side narrowly missing out on the title.

Neves’ positive comments about Liverpool are sure to attract attention at Anfield though, as he has been linked with a move there.

Liverpool’s assistant manager Pep Lijnders told Sky Sports that Neves would interest his side, but Wolves do not want to sell.

According to the Birmingham Mail Wolves would accept nothing less than £60 million for their central midfield star.

It seems unlikely that Wolves would sell Neves to Liverpool this summer, but his praise of the Reds is likely to have been noted by those at Anfield.
