The Goodfellas actor has made a surprise appearance in a new bagle-themed homage to the 1990 mafia movie

Star of Raging Bull and Casino, Robert De Niro, has now lent his talents to a bread-themed remake of the 1990 gangster hit Goodfellas in a new advert for the Bolton-based baking company Warburtons here in the UK.

The advert, which you can watch below, shows De Niro and his posse rock up at the Warburtons factory, protesting about their new line of bagels.

As you can see, De Niro and his rag-tag crew of bagel enthusiasts wipe out the competition to become the new bosses of Bolton.

The ad is packed full of references to the 1990 mafia movie, including De Niro’s company name, GoodBagles. with the excellent tag line “from THE family to your’s” a slightly different take on Warburtons’ usual tag line “from our family to your’s.”

All of this is set to the beautiful backdrop of Bolton, the self-proclaimed ‘home of the bagel’ according to the ad, including such sights as the town’s ‘world-famous’ bus station.

De Niro’s appearance in the Warburtons advert lands him in impressive company that also includes Sylvester Stallone, The Muppets and Bolton’s very own comedy hero Peter Kay who have all appeared in adverts for Warburtons in the past.

The only question that now remains is how on earth can Warburtons top Robert De Niro?
