Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty is fighting for his Ibrox future.

Rangers took on Chelsea in a behind-closed-doors game today, and The Scottish Sun claim that midfielder Greg Docherty was in action for the Gers.

Rangers beat Celtic 2-0 on Sunday to claim a second straight Ibrox win over their Old Firm rivals, giving the club a major boost ahead of the summer transfer window.

Steven Gerrard’s side travel to take on Kilmarnock on Sunday to end their season, and Gerrard gave some of his fringe players a chance to shine today.

Gerrard named a Rangers side to take on Chelsea in a behind-closed-doors game, and whilst there’s little information on the game, there are claims about the team.

The Scottish Sun note that midfielder Greg Docherty was in the side, and Gerrard watched alongside director of football Mark Allen as he looks to fight for his Rangers career.

A £600k signing from Hamilton Academical in January 2018 (Sky Sports), Docherty was loaned out by Gerrard last summer, joining Shrewsbury Town on loan.

Docherty starred with the League One side, hitting 10 goals and 11 assists in a superb loan spell, and now hopes to impress Gerrard ahead of pre-season.

That was Docherty’s first appearance in a Rangers shirt of 2019, and having starred in England, he will certainly believe he deserves another chance at Ibrox.
