Several Everton fans have taken to Twitter to slam reports from the Daily Star which suggested that the Toffees have demanded that Danny Rose move to Goodison Park if Spurs wish to sign Lucas Digne this summer.
Digne's form has attracted Tottenham's interest, and the Daily Star reports that he is now being rated at £36 million having cost £18 million when he moved to Merseyside last summer.
Despite his importance to Marco Silva's side, the report has hinted that Everton may be open to the prospect of letting the Frenchman leave after just one season - on one condition.
Apparently, the Toffees want Rose - who earns £60,000-a-week, according to Spotrac - included in the deal that would see Digne join Mauricio Pochettino's side at the end of the season - while Everton would also expect to receive a further fee as part of the move.
But judging by the reaction from the Everton supporters on social media, it would appear that Silva would be making a very unpopular decision if he did indeed allow such a swap deal to take place.
Digne has taken little time to make himself an incredibly popular figure at Everton, and there are plenty of supporters who are adamant that the Toffees hierarchy cannot consider allowing him to head to Tottenham, regardless of whether Rose heads the other way or not.
Here is how some of the Everton fans reacted to the reports...
I hope this is BS. Rose not fit to lace Digne’s boots. If #EFC have any ambition why would we allow the best full back in the Prem - bar none (despite the apparent ITK award givers) to go to a potential rival next season? https://t.co/8hRLJkmKbZ— SteveH (@cmotsteve) May 12, 2019
‘Man City will consider Everton’s move for De Bruyne, as long as James McCarthy is part of the deal’— Graeme (@graemeh1984) May 12, 2019
He is going nowhere; what a first season. ⚽️— Stephen (@Stephenah62) May 12, 2019

No thanks. I like Rose and think he's a good player but don't think we would be better off from that deal— dave baldwin (@dixiedave1) May 12, 2019
