The Leeds United loanee was on the losing side this afternoon.
Leeds United-owned Mallik Wilks received mixed ratings for his performance on loan today.
The 20-year-old winger played 90 minutes of Doncaster Rover's League One playoff semi-final at home to Charlton Athletic, who beat them 2-1.
Wilks has been a revelation since joining Grant McCann's side on loan from Leeds, netting 16 goals in all competitions from a wide role.
But the Thorp Arch academy gem, who set up Rovers' only goal of the game, had a lukewarm game overall.
The young attacker carried a knock into the game and here's how Leeds and Doncaster fans reacted to his display:
Mallik Wilks is quality on the ball but he needs to double his work rate off it to get a pick in our squad next season. Hope he can adapt in the close season...— PrinceImrahil (@imrahil_prince) May 12, 2019
Mallik Wilks just oozes confidence. Can’t wait to see how he gets on in a Leeds shirt. #EFLPlayOffs— Aid (@aid1793) May 12, 2019
Feel for Charlton after their ownership issues but hoping for a Wilks masterclass today— mish (@mishLUFC) May 12, 2019
Malik Wilks has no chance of ever playing for Leeds, and never for Marcelo Bielsa with his first half performance for Donny. So infuriating. You can tell he has something, but his half arsed attitude stinks.— KaiserChief82 (@KaiserChief82) May 12, 2019
Could tell. Bang average.— Lee Moore (@LEEM1512) May 12, 2019
Sixteen goals from all competitions is a phenomenal return, even in League One, and Leeds would be wise to keep him next season.
He is older than Jack Clarke and Ryan Shackleton, both of whom have dazzled under Marcelo Bielsa this season.
And even though United might be a Premier League side soon, Bielsa needs to have a proper look at him during the summer and determine whether he could be an asset.
Wilks is a huge talent and working alongside Bielsa, there's a good chance of him realising his potential.
