Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers have won against Neil Lennon’s Celtic.
Rangers have got the better of Celtic 2-0 at Ibrox in the Old Firm derby this afternoon.
Steven Gerrard’s side had already secured the runners-up spot in the Scottish Premiership table, while Celtic had won the league title – their eighth in a row.
Rangers have been in good form, and the Gers headed into the Scottish Premiership game on Sunday afternoon high on confidence.
The Gers went ahead as early as the second minute when former Newcastle United right-back James Tavernier found the net.
Then in the 63rd minute, Scott Arfield doubled the advantage, as Rangers celebrated a deserved victory over their bitter Old Firm rivals.
Former Celtic striker John Hartson was following the match, and he has mocked Rangers on Twitter.
The result means that the Gers are now six points behind Celtic, and Hartson has mocked the Ibrox club for this apparent progress.
Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has also taken to Twitter to give his reaction to the win for Rangers and has mocked the Gers.
Well done to Rangers by far the better team but when the pressure was off… no trophies but fair play 6 wins in a row…maybe a new DVD out Monday— Chris Sutton (@chris_sutton73) May 12, 2019
That’s Rangers currently 6 points behind the Champions Celtic.. great effort !!!!!— John Hartson (@JohnHartson10) May 12, 2019
The win against Celtic will boost Rangers’ confidence for next season, and the players will have realised that they can compete with the Hoops.
With a few good signings in the summer transfer window, Rangers can give Celtic a run for their money next season.
