Celtic may have won the Scottish Premiership title last weekend, but today’s Old Firm derby defeat to Rangers will leave a sour taste for many.

The Bhoys travelled to Ibrox looking to follow up their March win over the Gers with another victory, but were also seeking revenge having lost 1-0 at Ibrox in December.

Sadly for Celtic, this display was even worse than that one. The Bhoys made the worst possible start, as James Tavernier’s left-wing free kick missed everybody and ended up in the bottom corner of Scott Bain’s goal.

Celtic just never got into the game, and got what they deserved for a torrid display as Jermain Defoe dummied Glen Kamara’s pass, and Scott Arfield swooped in to score.

Celtic mustered just one shot on target in 90 minutes of an Old Firm derby, which simply isn’t even close to being good enough, and Neil Lennon’s role will come under question.

Lennon may have cost himself a permanent stay at Parkhead with that defeat, and the same goes for full back Jeremy Toljan, who was never likely to be signed permanently anyway.

The German full back was brought in by Brendan Rodgers in January after falling down the pecking order at Borussia Dortmund, but has been woefully short of quality and has barely featured under Lennon.

He was brought on after Mikael Lustig’s injury though, and served up a poor display, leading Celtic fans on Twitter to slam him for a lack of effort.

Others believe that Toljan is the worst player at Parkhead, even suggesting he wouldn’t get a game at Falkirk and is even worse than Lustig, with Bhoys fans simply having enough of the loanee.
