Rangers manager Steven Gerrard
According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers are interested in signing Greg Stewart in the summer transfer window.
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard reportedly wants to secure the services of the 29-year-old forward on a free transfer.
The forward’s loan deal at Aberdeen runs out in the summer, when he is also out of contract at Birmingham.
According to The Scottish Sun, talks between Rangers and Stewart are at an advanced stage, but the 29-year-old forward is not giving anything away regarding his future.
The Scottish Sun quotes Stewart as saying when asked about his future: "No. I just want to finish the season strong here. The summer will take care of itself. I just want to focus on getting that third place."
Good signing for Rangers?
Stewart is a good forward, but it is hard to see the 29-year-old score goals regularly for Rangers next season.
The Scotsman is not very prolific, and the forward is unlikely to bang in 15 or 20 goals a season for the Gers.
Signing Stewart on a free transfer will make sense for Rangers if manager Gerrard plans to make him a squad player.
