La Liga outfit Eibar have retained striker Sergi Enrich despite reported interest from Premier League sides Norwich City and Watford.

Reported Norwich City and Watford target Sergi Enrich has signed a new deal with Eibar, according to Marca.

AS broke the news this week that the Premier League duo wanted to ‘Enrich’ their strikeforce by bringing the Spanish centre-forward to Britain.

Enrich is an old-school striker who thrives when leading the line and his physical style could have made him a perfect fit for English football. The 29-year-old, who has scored seven La Liga goals this season including one in a 3-0 thrashing of Real Madrid, was due to become a free agent in July.

But while confirming that he did have a chance to leave Spain for England this summer, Enrich has instead committed his future to Eibar by inking a new three-year contract.

“I had the idea to go to the Premier League and had options, but I have prioritised other things like being comfortable, being happy and feeling very valued,” he said.

“We are a family and we have to maintain the DNA of Eibar; commitment, work and humility. My first choice has always been Eibar.”

Norwich remain keen to sign a striker capable of taking the pressure off star man Teemu Pukki and it will be interesting to see who they turn to now with Enrich out of their reach. Watford, meanwhile, are expected to have another busy summer as the club look to build on a likely top half finish and an FA Cup final appearance.
