Rangers will be hoping to add trophies to their cabinet next season.

Graeme Souness has stated that the Rangers squad ‘lacks quality’ and admitted that manager Steven Gerrard can’t say that because he needs to keep the players ‘onside’.
Former England international Gerrard is in his first managerial job and he has helped the Light Blues finish as runners-up in the Scottish Premiership – but the trophies eluded him in his debut campaign.
That is something Gerrard will be looking to put right next term and in order for him to do that he’ll need to bulk up his squad for the following campaign.
Former Scotland international Souness offered his honest thoughts on the season Gerrard has had and where the problems lie for the Englishman.
“Yes, he’s done very well,” Souness told Herald Scotland. “They’re far closer to Celtic, even though they’ve slipped up in some games. The word ‘inconsistency’ springs to mind but that can happen when you have a group of players, I need to be careful what I say here, but he’s lacking in quality and he knows that.
“Steven can’t say that because he needs to keep those players onside but he lacks a bit of quality. Even so, they’re not a million miles away; results suggest that because they’re only nine points behind and that’s closer than they’ve been for years.
“I would see them improving again next year, although they need to get some more players in. There are two ways to do that – you either buy them or promote them through your system.”

The biggest disappointment for Gerrard this season would have been their performances in the domestic competitions. The Gers didn’t even make it to Hampden, which was the one dampener on their campaign.
Added with that, the ill-discipline from his players, particularly striker Alfredo Morelos ended up proving to be costly to his team and maybe their league position.
Their performances in Europe were some of the positives, as was the football they played and the performances of some of the loan players such as Ryan Kent.
