Celtic defender Emilio Izaguirre has told The Scottish Sun that the club have been asking him about Houston Dynamo winger Alberth Elis ahead of a possible move.
The Bhoys have clinched another league title, their eighth in a row, and now face a big summer as they prepare for a new chapter.
A new permanent manager is needed, whilst a host of players will come and go as Celtic face a major rebuild at Parkhead this summer.
With Oliver Burke and Timothy Weah only on loan, a new winger may be on the radar for Neil Lennon, or whoever else may be in charge at Parkhead next season.
A host of players will be on the radar, but defender Izaguirre has claimed that Celtic want his Honduran international teammate Elis.
Elis, 23, has been in red-hot form in the new MLS season, notching four goals and five assists in just eight games for Houston Dynamo.
A skilful winger with blistering pace, Elis is one of the most dangerous players in Major League Soccer, and he may well earn a big move to Scotland if Izaguirre's comments are anything to go by.
Izaguirre may have told The Scottish Sun yesterday that he's looking to leave Celtic for Major League Soccer, but has now claimed that Celtic have been asking him about signing Elis on a number of occasions, meaning a deal may well be considered.
“Celtic have asked me about a few players from Honduras,” said Izaguirre. “They've asked me several times about Elis. Who knows? Maybe one day they will sign players from Honduras like me.”
“Honduras has some very good players, but the professional part of things is sometimes missing. Here at Celtic, here you have to forget everything else and be a professional for 24/7 and when you play in matches, you give everything,” he added.
