The Citizens ran out 1-0 winners over Leicester at the Etihad Stadium and Pep Guardiola’s charges are top of the Premier League table again.

Manchester City fans went through a gauntlet of emotions on Monday night as the team took on Leicester City at the Etihad Stadium with Liverpool having returned to the top of the Premier League table following their hard-fought 3-2 win at Newcastle United two days earlier.

The Foxes won the reverse fixture against the Citizens at the King Power, triumphing 2-1 back in December, and then of course there was the 3-1 win at the Etihad Stadium in February 2016 and the 4-2 triumph the following season – needless to say they weren’t going to make life easy for the hosts.

However, with the score still goalless midway into the second half, Mr Man City himself, Vincent Kompany, provided a moment of true magic when rifled home a superb long-range effort in the 70th minute which left Kasper Schmeichel grasping at thin air.

It proved the only goal in a 1-0 win which means Pep Guardiola’s charges now sit a point clear of Liverpool going into the final fixture of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion, thus with fate in their own hands.

After the game, the Man City Twitter feed uploaded a post-match clip in which Sergio Aguero jokes with Kompany about having told him not to shoot:

Former Citizens ace Yaya Toure replied to the tweet:

And some Man City fans replied to the Ivory Coast ace’s comment:
