Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to speculation linking the club with former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.
According to The Chronicle, an agent with strong links to Wenger is looking at whether or nor Newcastle would be interested in appointing the Frenchman as their new manager.
Rafael Benitez is in charge of the Magpies at the moment, but the Spaniard is out of contract at St. James’ Park at the end of the season and no new deal is in place.

My ideal choice of replacement would be:

1) Rafa on a 3 year contract
2) Rafa on a 5 year contract
Rafa to stay, I want him to hopefully build something here and with just that bit more backing from the hierarchy he can do that. He’ll actually make more money for him ! Imagine the city buzzing again with excitement instead of, can we finish in the premier league this season !

Am I the only one who thinks Wenger wouldnt be able to do what Rafa’s done on a shoestring budget

Wenger to #NUFC. Of course! Rafa can feck off ’cause we’re getting Arsene and he’s happy to bounce around the relegation zone. Nice try, Keith.

If Rafa wants assurances on budget, control and better way of working, Wenger or any other top manager would want the same! #NUFC https://t.co/ICXfsyMMgI

Blockbuster appointment
Benitez is a brilliant manager and has been superb at St. James’ Park, but Wenger would be a stunning and blockbuster managerial appointment for Newcastle.
Wenger is an Arsenal and Premier League legend, and the Frenchman commands huge respect in the footballing community.
If the Frenchman succeeds Benitez at Newcastle, then it will not be bad for the Magpies.
