HITC Sport understands newly-promoted Luton are lining up a move for Coventry defender Jordan Willis on a free transfer.

Luton Town are closing in on the signing of Coventry defender Jordan Willis on a free transfer, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Championship new boys Luton have lined up a deal for Willis to bolster their defensive options ahead of next season back in the second tier of English football.

Willis, who has come through the ranks at Coventry, is out of contract this summer and is set to move on after failing to agree a new deal.

A number of clubs have shown an interest in signing Willis, but Luton are believed to leading the chase for the defender’s signature.

The 24-year-old, who has made over 200 appearances for Coventry, is understood to be keen on the chance of playing at a higher level and Luton are ready to offer him that opportunity next season in the Championship.

New Luton boss Graeme Jones is keen to act swiftly in the transfer market as he plans ahead for next season and he feels Willis would be a valuable addition to his plans for next season.
