Arsenal wingers Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan have often been criticised for their erratic Premier League displays under Unai Emery.

Arsenal legend Charlie Nicholas has encouraged the Gunners to cash in on both Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan this summer while taking aim at outgoing flop Denis Suarez, during an interview with Sky Sports.

The Gunners are a team still in transition under Unai Emery and the former PSG and Sevilla coach is expected to bring about plenty of changes to his playing staff over the summer, with a number of first-team regulars facing an uncertain future.

One of those is Mkhitaryan, who has flattered to deceive since moving to The Emirates as part of a deal that saw Alexis Sanchez go the other way to Manchester United in January 2018. The Mirror claims the 2016 Bundesliga Player of the Year has been made available.

And Nicholas believes that academy graduate Iwobi should follow Mkhitaryan out the door, adding that he is hardly mourning Suarez’s return to Barcelona after injury brought an end to a forgettable loan spell.

"I would sell Henrik Mkhitaryan and if I got the right money for Alex Iwobi I would sell him too. Denis Suarez has gone, that was a waste of time,” said Nicholas, who played for Arsenal between 1983 and 1988.

Few would question why ‘Champagne Charlie’ has been underwhelmed by the erratic Mkhitaryan but his anti-Iwobi stance is a little more surprising.

The Nigerian international has been one of Arsenal’s brighter performers under Emery, even if there is still a large fraction of the fan base who think he’s simply not good enough.
