Glasgow Rangers signing Andre Gray would be huge for Scottish football

Glasgow Rangers could make Scotland’s most significant transfer in years, if they are able to bring Andre Gray to Ibrox.

Rangers want to sign Gray from Watford this summer, according to the Glasgow Evening Times.

And if Rangers could bring in the Premier League striker it would be a momentous signing for the Scottish Premiership.

 

Gray’s arrival at Rangers would begin to change opinions about moving to Scotland.

Just this week Harry Redknapp told the Scotsman that no player in England would give up the Premier League to play in Scotland, unless they were in the twilight of their career.

However, Gray is right at the peak of his powers and his arrival at Rangers would start to change perceptions about what a move north of the border would mean.

Rangers raised eye-brows when they brought in Jermain Defoe in the January transfer window, but Gray is significantly younger and his signing would be even more exciting.

The Watford man has enjoyed a strong season in the Premier League this term.

And if Rangers could bring Gray to Ibrox then he could wreak havoc across the SPFL for Steven Gerrard’s men.
