Former Barcelona wonder-kid Kubo has talked up Liverpool's style.
A 17-year-old forward who is the youngest debutant and goal-scorer in the history of Japan’s top flight, Kubo is currently playing for Yokohama FC Marinos after a five-year spell in Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy.
The fleet-footed teenager was compared to none other than Lionel Messi during his time in Catalunya, although Barca were forced to release him after being found guilty by FIFA of violating international transfer policy for under-18s.
According to Mundo Deportivo, however, some of Europe’s biggest clubs are hoping to give him a second chance in the West with Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea interested.
Kubo, however, has suggested that he would jump at the chance to sign for Liverpool should such an opportunity arise.
"The team I think play the most interesting football is Liverpool," he said.
"I feel they are awesome when I watch their games. It’s not really to say they are my ‘favourite’, but more like ‘awesome’.”
Given that Jurgen Klopp has a fine record when it comes to giving youth a chance, the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Mario Gotze and Trent Alexander-Arnold starring under the former Borussia Dortmund boss, Kubo would certainly be given a chance to shine should the Anfield giants join the race to snap him up.
