Premier League giants Arsenal released Dan Crowley in 2017 and he's currently shining in the Eredivisie with Willem II.

Dan Crowley believes he has the talent to still be an Arsenal player despite failing to make the grade at the Emirates, speaking to Goal.

The Coventry-born midfielder was seen as one of the biggest young talents in English football when he left Aston Villa for North London in 2014, signing professional terms with The Gunners on his 17th birthday.

But Crowley’s undoubted ability quickly became overshadowed by suggestions that he was a somewhat ‘difficult’ character and, after disappointing loan spells at Barnsley and Oxford, Arsenal released the so-called ‘new Jack Wilshere’ in 2017 despite the fact he still had a year left on his contract.

The 21-year-old has certainly matured since making a left-field move to Willem II, however, and is starting to rebuild his reputation with a fine season in the Eredivisie.

And, speaking to Goal, Crowley is at pains to point out that he can still make it at the top if given the opportunity.

"Do I think I'm good enough to still be at Arsenal? 100%. But there are no real regrets because that’s just the way I am. Every career is different,” he said.

“I am ambitious. I do massively believe in myself, I think I can be one of the best No.10s in Europe.”

Crowley has produced six goals and 11 assists this season for a Willem II side who will take on Ajax in the KNVB Final this weekend looking to end a trophy drought that runs all the way back to 1963.

And The Mail claimed in March that he has caught the eye of PSV and Feyenoord while clubs in England and Germany are also keen.
