Josh Cullen has confirmed to London News Online that West Ham United want him back at the London Stadium.

West Ham loaned out Cullen to Charlton Athletic this season, and the midfielder has gone on to impress.

But the youngster insists that he still hopes to make it back at the Hammers.

“I’ll go back. They want me back to go and do pre-season and try and make my time there successful,” Cullen said.

“Get in the first-team and warrant that place. That’s what I’m looking to do and hopefully that will happen.”

Cullen has always been very highly regarded at West Ham, but he is now 23, and needs to be playing regularly.

Whether he will be able to force his way into Manuel Pellegrini’s starting line-up remains to be seen.

Competition for places in West Ham’s team in fierce, with Cullen set to have to battle with the likes of Mark Noble, Pedro Obiang, Declan Rice and Jack Wilshere for a spot in pre-season.

During his loan spell with Charlton, Cullen has helped Lee Bowyer’s side make it into the League One play offs.

Charlton are currently in fifth place in the third tier, and look set to play against Portsmouth or Sunderland in the play off semi final.
