Manchester City are prepared to meet Swansea City’s £10 million price-tag as they look to win the race to sign Daniel James this summer, according to the Sun (28 April, page 59).
James has come from nowhere to become one of the most coveted young talents in British football over the last few months, catching the eye with his outstanding performances in the Championship under Graham Potter.
The Welsh international missed out on a move to Leeds United in January when Swansea backed out of the deal at the eleventh hour but joining the Premier League champions would certainly quell that disappointment.
The Sun claims that Manchester City are prepared to spend £10 million on the jet-heeled James, who shone as Pep Guardiola’s side narrowly beat the Swans 3-2 in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
The 21-year-old even earned comparisons to PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe when he showcased his amazing speed to score a stunning individual goal against Brentford earlier in the year, as reported by the Telegraph.
The Sun adds that City will send James on loan to their sister club Girona if they win the race but it remains to be seen whether he would be keen to move to Spain.
