In wake of Avengers: Endgame, it may finally be time for a Hawkeye solo movie.
Can we finally welcome the idea of a Hawkeye solo movie? The marketing for Avengers: Endgame has placed a curious emphasis on Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye, who has appeared throughout the MCU's output. Initially, his absence in Avengers: Infinity War encouraged many audiences to believe that his role in Endgame would be rather insignificant, merely popping in for a brief exchange with the others. However, considering that some of the most spotlighted heroes have fell victim to Thanos' snap, it's time for the others to take action and save the day.
Hawkeye has never been one of the most popular superheroes, but arguably he hasn't had a chance to shine in the way that others have; often overshadowed by the camaraderie of the central, more iconic figures. Fortunately, many have declared Hawkeye one of the most important characters of the Avengers' latest outing, so we may finally be ready to embrace a Hawkeye solo movie series.
The promotional material for the film has teased his transformation, and while it's best not to go into too much detail, it's clear that the character is a very different man to the one we knew in, say, Avengers: Age of Ultron. The latter film did, in fact, sow the seeds for his wider development, but now it seems that his character depth has become a top priority for the Russo brothers. Infinity War never left anyone behind and never allowed any of the characters to feel insignificant, so it's great to see that Endgame is making no exceptions either.
Complete plans for MCU's phase four are currently under wraps, although there are certain sequels that we can no doubt expect to see. A Hawkeye solo movie isn't exactly locked in, but following Endgame, it's highly likely that it will feel more imperative than ever before. His fate is uncertain, so who knows whether the project would have to be a prequel or not; either way, it's definitely possible.
Once the Endgame buzz has waned and the studio begins to announce more projects, we desperately hope that this is one of them. Until then, let's enjoy the most anticipated movie of 2019... the mighty Avengers: Endgame is finally here.
