Leeds United and Sheffield United are fighting for automatic promotion to the Premier League.
With Norwich City in the driving seat in regard to winning the Championship title this season, the fight for the second and final automatic promotion spot is between Yorkshire rivals Leeds United and Sheffield United.
While Norwich are at the top of the league table at the moment with 87 points from 43 matches, United and Leeds are level on 82 points in second and third place respectively in the standings.
At this stage, it is all about the finer details, and one point that has been noted is the different times at which the Blades and the Whites are kicking off their respective matches.
This past Friday, Chris Wilder’s side were in action at lunchtime, and they won 2-0 against Nottingham Forest at Bramall Lane.
Leeds kicked off their league fixture against Wigan Athletic at 3pm on Friday, and Marcelo Bielsa’s side lost 2-1.
Both United and Leeds are in action on Monday, and once again, the Blades will kick off before their Yorkshire rivals so - the third successive time they have done so - and this is a disadvantage to the Whites, according to former Norwich striker Dean Ashton.
Ashton said on the EFL show on Quest TV: “Yeah, they would have ever right to say it’s not really fair because Sheffield United can put the pressure on like they did today.”
