Chris Sutton has revealed in The Daily Record what he has heard about Celtic’s strategy in terms of wages.

The former Celtic striker believes that Dermot Desmond, the club’s largest individual shareholder, and the Hoops’ chief executive Peter Lawwell, may not pay high wages anymore.

Sutton wrote in The Daily Record: "The wage bill is sky high now and I have heard people saying that Desmond and Lawwell may not want to go down that road again because it is not cost-effective to in the long run.

"Scaling down on the manager might be a way to getting those running costs that Rodgers built up cut back down a bit.”

Derrmot Desmond is seen during the Scottish Premier League between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park Stadium on September 2, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Successful season

Celtic have already won the Scottish League Cup this season, and the Hoops have progressed to the final of the Scottish Cup.

It is only a matter of time before the Glasgow giants clinch the Scottish Premiership title for the eighth season in a row.

Celtic have won the domestic treble for the past two seasons, and the Bhoys should win all the three domestic competitions yet again this season.

The Glasgow giants have some of the best players in Scotland, and them playing in the Champions League or in the Europa League on a regular basis is only going to earn the club more money, which they can then invest in getting good players.

Celtic will return to action on Sunday when they take on Hibernian away from home in the Scottish Premiership.
