According to a report from the Daily Mail, Arsenal could soon move into pole position to sign Nicolas Tagliafico as one of their rivals for his signature consider another target.

The Gunners are keen on the 26-year-old, who has helped Ajax reach the semi-finals of the Champions League this week. Tagliafico has scored five goals and contributed six assists in all competitions this term.

Unsurprisingly given his form, Unai Emery was not his only admirer, with Atletico Madrid also considering a move. However, the Daily Mail is now reporting that Diego Simeone has switched his attention elsewhere.

According to the Mail, Simeone is keen on a £35 million move for Alex Telles as he feels that the Porto star is a more-rounded player than his countryman. And thus, Arsenal may be one of the biggest beneficiaries if Brazilian ends up joining the La Liga giants this summer.

Tagliafico looks to be the kind of player that could really make a fantastic impact in the Premier League if he was to secure a move to England at the end of the season.

He is an exciting player who loves to get forward and attack. It would arguably be an excellent piece of business from Arsenal if they could get Tagliafico to be the man to replace Nacho Monreal at the Emirates. And their chances of doing exactly that appear to have received a boost.
