Notts County’s Kion Etete continues to show promise.

Tottenham Hotspur’s need for another striker has been laid bare again, as Harry Kane has picked up another ankle injury, ruling him out for the rest of the season.

Fans may well be expecting to see a new striker arrive this summer, but the name Kion Etete may not have been on the shortlist of many supporters heading into the latest transfer window.

The Notts County striker, 17, has been coming up through the ranks with the Magpies, and already has six first-team appearances to his name.

Etete has been tipped for a future in the Premier League, just like another former Magpies talent – Jermaine Pennant – and could make the move to the top flight soon.

Celtic's daunting Champions League qualification challenge

Etete featured as a trialist for Tottenham’s Under-18’s back in March, and made a stunning impact as he scored twice in a 5-3 win over West Ham United.

On Tuesday night, Etete was in action for Notts County’s reserves, and again underlined his quality by scoring twice in a 5-2 victory for the Magpies.

Etete is doing his chances of a permanent move to Spurs no harm, and Tottenham will no doubt be keeping close tabs on the teenage striker having impressed on trial.

One for the future, Etete could be a smart signing for Tottenham, and having scored twice in the reserves, it would be little surprise to see him open his league account this season before potentially moving on.
