Arsenal finally kept an away clean sheet for the first time this season as they beat 10-man Watford 1-0 on Monday night.

The Gunners haven't been impressive on the road of late, and a trip to Vicarage Road looked tricky, against a buoyant Hornets side following their FA Cup semi-final success.

However, Arsenal were gifted a win as Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster dallied on the ball, and his clearance hit Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before going into the net.

 

Watford's cause was damaged even further just moments later, as forward Troy Deeney was given a straight red card for appearing to strike Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira.

Despite their numerical advantage, Arsenal were far from impressive, labouring to a 1-0 win against 10 men, and they were almost hit with a sucker punch as Adam Masina's long-range strike smashed the crossbar for Watford.

Arsenal managed to get out of Hertfordshire with all three points, meaning they move back into the top four, one point behind Tottenham Hotspur once again.

Spurs fans will have been frustrated at Arsenal's somewhat fortuitous win anyway, but they were particularly furious with Watford goalkeeper Foster for his mistake.

Tottenham supporters took to Twitter to share their bemusement at Foster flopping against Arsenal, given that he's always playing the game of his life against Spurs, believing he's unbeatable against Tottenham but useless against everybody else...
