Liverpool already have bags of attacking talent, but one striker may just tempt Jurgen Klopp into the transfer market this summer.
The Reds have seen Roberto Firmino go through ups and downs this season, so bringing in another striker isn't beyond all realms of possibility, and Timo Werner has been heavily linked.
The Liverpool Echo report that Liverpool are keepings tabs on RB Leipzig forward Werner, with Klopp understood to be a fan of his compatriot.
Liverpool may now be on red alert, as Werner has rejected a new deal with the Bundesliga side, and has just one year left on his current contract, meaning a summer exit may be on the cards.
This is certainly the time for Liverpool to make their move. Daniel Sturridge is leaving and Divock Origi's future is unclear, so adding one quality striker to compete with Firmino would give Liverpool another dimension going forward.
Whilst Firmino brings great work rate and technique, Werner has bags of pace and loves to run off the shoulder of the last man, giving Klopp another devastating option in attack, whilst he could be signed for great value given his contract situation.
The timing is perfect for Liverpool, and remarkably, it could have a major impact on local rivals Everton, given that Calciomercato claim that RB Leipzig forward Jean-Kevin Augustin is the Toffees' top attacking target this summer.
Leipzig would loathe to lose two talented young forwards in one transfer window, so Liverpool getting in for Werner quickly may leave Everton in a struggle to convince Leipzig to sell Augustin too.
Werner's quality is the main reason why Liverpool should move, but striking a blow to Everton's plans would also be a lovely bonus for the Reds.
