Liverpool are reportedly keen on Julian Brandt.

German newspaper Bild report Liverpool are prepared to meet Julian Brandt’s £21.5 million release clause.

Brandt is a long term target of the Reds and his release clause is a bargain.

The Times reported that in 2017 at one stage he was ahead of Mohamed Salah on Liverpool’s list of targets.

A move for Salah has been a masterstroke, while Brandt has remained at Bayer Leverkusen.

Now two years better off for further experience gained in the Bundesliga, this could be the right time for Liverpool to bring Brandt in.

The release clause comes into effect if Leverkusen fail to qualify for the Champions League. Currently they sit in fifth place, seven points back from fourth, making it likely.

Real Madrid and Juventus are also keen, but Liverpool’s long term interest could hold the key for the Reds along with manager Jurgen Klopp.

The 22-year-old has scored four goals and provided 10 assists in 28 Bundesliga games this season.

Those numbers could rapidly increase playing in Liverpool’s side.
