Avengers: Endgame is highly anticipated but that hasn't stopped the Ant-Man Thanos memes.
Memes, there's simply no stopping them. Avengers: Endgame is the most anticipated film of the year and is projected to break box-office records when it finally releases April 25, 2019. Next week we'll all be lining up to witness the biggest blockbuster event since Star Wars: The Force Awakens. However, in the line, or while you're sat down, it's likely you'll hear more than one group laughing about the Ant-Man/Thanos meme which recently reached the film's cast.
The meme centres on the idea of the Avengers defeating Thanos thanks to Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) shrinking himself down and entering a certain orifice belonging to the mad titan himself, Thanos. So many interpretations of the meme have surfaced on social media and beyond, but it seems that Paul Rudd has some concerns of his own.
Rudd recently appeared on The Graham Norton Show, and while discussing the film, he was prompted to discuss his take on it all. "People have asked me if I [...] go into Thanos, in a certain orifice, and grow giant size," he laughs. "But why not the ear? Or the nose?" Of course, these alternatives wouldn't prove quite as funny as the chosen method. However, he then confirms that from a scientific perspective it would "make sense".
It's all in good humour, but hopefully - come opening night - we can watch the film in peace without people bursting into hysterics when Rudd and Josh Brolin (Thanos) share screen time. The last thing most audiences will want is a sincere moment to be influenced by a meme. If it isn't swept under the rug soon, this could be the case.
