Jamie Redknapp suggested on Sky Sports Main Event on Saturday afternoon (2:56pm, April 13, 2019) that Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino should include Victor Wanyama in the starting lineup against Manchester City this week.
Tottenham will take on Premier League rivals City away from home at the Etihad Stadium in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie on Wednesday evening.
The North London outfit won the first leg of the tie 1-0 at White Hart Lane in London last week.
Former Tottenham midfielder Redknapp has suggested that Spurs manager Pochettino should considering including defensive midfielder Wanyama in the starting lineup against City.
Rednapp believes that the 27-year-old Kenya international’s power and freshness will help Spurs against City.
Redknapp said about Wanyama on Sky Sports Main Event on Saturday afternoon (2:56pm, April 13, 2019): “What you want him to do is to put fires out all around the pitch if he can, and he has got real power.
“He is fresh, he hasn’t played a lot of football. I am sure it’s something he’s (Pochettino) looking at at the moment.”
Wanyama has made three starts and five substitute appearances in the Premier League for Tottenham so far this season, scoring one goal in the process, according to WhoScored.
The former Celtic and Southampton defensive midfielder has played just 67 minutes in the Champions League for Spurs so far this campaign, according to WhoScored.
