Aston Villa are edging closer to securing a top-six finish at the end of the season with four games remaining.
John Terry lauded Aston Villa on Instagram for producing another 'big performance' after they beat promotion rivals Bristol City 2-1 at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon.
Dean Smith's side have now recorded eight wins on the bounce and their promotion hopes are nearly in the bag following those three points against Lee Johnson's sixth-placed side.
Villa are now four points ahead of the Robins, who have a game in hand and a further five points ahead of seventh-placed Middlesbrough and six points ahead of Frank Lampard's Derby, who will play their game in hand against Bristol City.
Nonetheless, following Villa's victory, assistant coach, Terry hailed goalscoring duo Tammy Abraham and Conor Hourihane on his personal Instagram account.
In the game itself, Abraham opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the second half, while Anwar El Ghazi played a delightful ball through to Hourihane following his run into the penalty area.
The three points against City was even more impressive given the fact that Villa were without the suspended Tyrone Mings, injured Kortney Hause and the ill Jack Grealish. Added with that, Jonathan Kodjia was also missing from the matchday squad.
But Villa recorded a deserved three points and given there 11 shots on target, they should have scored more but the opposition goalkeeper made some outstanding saves throughout the match.
