Is The Last Of Us Part 2 director’s “favourite” character Ellie’s mum?
The Last Of Us Part 2 director has said Laura Bailey’s mysterious character is a “favourite” of his but is she playing Ellie’s mum?
Laura Bailey’s character was first introduced in a brutal and “controversial” trailer at Paris Games Week in 2017.
Although there weren’t really any hints, the trailer led everyone to jump to the conclusion that Laura Bailey’s character is Ellie’s mum, Anna.
The Last Of Us Part 2 director’s “favourite” character
The Last Of Us Part 2’s director, Neil Druckmann, has posted a tweet celebrating Laura Bailey’s final mocap performance for her mysterious character.
Druckmann thanks Bailey for crushing the performance and for helping to bring one of his “favourite characters to life.”
Laura Bailey’s role in The Last Of Us Part 2 remains a mystery, but you’d expect her to have a pivotal part in the story.
Is it Ellie’s mum?
In The Last Of Us, Anna was said to have died a day after giving birth to Ellie. She was supposedly friends with Marlene, which is why the leader of the Fireflies agreed to look after the motherless child.
There were no hints in The Last Of Us Part 2‘s trailer at Paris Games Week that Laura Bailey’s character is Anna, but that didn’t stop numerous outlets and fans from speculating.
Druckmann also contributed to the speculation by teasing in an interview that the scene could be a flashback.
“As far as who these characters are, what their conflict is, where this takes place, when this takes place, we’re going to leave it up to the fans for now,” said Druckmann.
Since the trailer’s launch in 2017, the community’s belief that Laura Bailey’s character is Anna has significantly died down.
It’s still plausible, but fans are currently finding it too hard to believe that the game’s evil cult has been around for 20 years and that Anna is still alive.
Regardless of who she ends up being, expect Laura Bailey’s character to be a significant new addition to The Last Of Us series.
