Could Emilio Izaguirre be about to bid farewell to Celtic for the second time in two years?
The long-serving left-back departed on a free transfer in the summer of 2017, bringing an end to a trophy-laden spell in Glasgow which included six Scottish Premiership titles.
And few predicted that he would return just 12 months later after a miserable spell in Saudi Arabia with Al-Fayha.
But, with his contract due to expire in July, it seems likely Izaguirre will be on his way out of Parkhead again.
The Honduran veteran has made just 11 Premiership starts all season and has played once since an error-strewn performance in a 2-0 Europa League defeat to Valencia in February.
And it seems that Celtic are already looking for replacements. The Bristol Post broke the news on Thursday that the Hoops were hoping to sign Aberdeen captain Graeme Shinnie, the Scotland international who is equally comfortable at left-back as he is in central midfield.
Shinnie appears to be on his way to Derby County instead however, with the Rams holding talks, as reported by the Press and Journal, but he is surely not the only left-back option on Celtic’s radar.
Izaguirre, then, appears to be on borrowed time.
