In January, Arsenal signed a seldom-seen midfielder who had grown frustrated with life on the bench of one of Europe’s biggest clubs. But Denis Suarez’s has failed miserably to prove his worth at the Emirates, his action restricted to just four substitute appearances in the Premier League.
So are Arsenal making the same mistake with Christopher Nkunku rapidly emerging as top summer target? Like Barcelona loanee Suarez, Nkunku has struggled for game time at PSG and has rejected a new contract, according to Le Parisien, as he looks to prove himself elsewhere.
Paris Team claimed recently that Arsenal were willing to pay £30 million to bring the Frenchman to the Emirates this summer, potentially as a replacement for the influential yet departing Aaron Ramsey.
But it seems the fans are fearing a second coming of Suarez. Though this may be a little unfair.
Nkunku has shone whenever he has played for PSG this season and forcing your way into a midfield containing Marco Verratti and Angel di Maria is easier said than done. Nonetheless, Nkunku would arrive at Arsenal with a real point to prove – not just to PSG but to the Gunners fans, too.

Do you seriously think that Nkunku would be a good signing for Arsenal. You can’t let Ramsey go and sign some no one from psg. If we sign him then we’re just making the same mistake we did when we signed Suarez— Abdulmuhsen (@6p_12) April 9, 2019
We should ask ourselves this question— Abdulmuhsen (@6p_12) April 9, 2019
Will Nkunku win arsenal the league?
Then we should not sign him
Nkunku ain't all that. He is not good enough to fill Ramsey's shoes. Barella? Great player but highly doubt he'll come to arsenal, will probably sign for juve even though he's said he likes England— Robin (@robin_grant_85) April 7, 2019
I like Nkunku but he isn’t good enough to be our sole Ramsey replacement. Should be alternating with Iwobi and whoever the #10 is, similar to Denis. Nice squad option though.— ¥ (@p_ftbl) April 9, 2019
I also doubt we are that prepared lool. But nah what I meant by priority was a UCL signing assuming we can afford them. So hypothetically Barella or Maddison. We wouldn’t go for Nkunku if our primary targets can be bought. And I assume we can only sign our primary’s if we may UCL— W ⚪️ / (@Wayne_Writes) April 9, 2019
