Red Bull Salzburg coach Rose looked like the ideal candidate to replace Brendan Rodgers at Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.

The ideal successor to Brendan Rodgers might have just passed Celtic by.
With their two-time treble winning manager jumping ship and joining Leicester City in February, The Hoops needed a new coach who would understand the principles of this famous old club.
And Rose, a manager famed for his commitment to free-flowing attacking football not to mention his ability to turn young talents into established senior stars, seemed to tick a lot of boxes – at least in the eyes of Celtic supporters.
Furthermore, while Rodgers frequently underwhelmed in Europe, Rose did precisely the opposite. His Red Bull Salzburg team soared to the semi-finals of the Europa League last season, knocking out Lazio and Borussia Dortmund along the way.

So you can see why Celtic fans would be disappointed as Rose is officially unveiled as the new head coach of Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach, as reported by the league’s official website.
With Alex Neil making it clear that he is happy at Preston, speaking to the LEP, two viable candidates appear to be out of the running.
Neil Lennon might just get the job after all.
Not surprised Marco Rose isn’t coming to us. I’m sure he’ll go on and do great things with Monchengladbach and throughout the rest of his career. Like many others, got my hopes up but realistically always knew he was bound for German football. AvB the only option for me now.

Marco rose signs for monchengladbach, fair enough can't argue with that, top 2/3 best league in world and 4pts off guaranteed champions league. No brainer really, we could never have competed tbh
