Polish right back Robert Gumny has been linked with Celtic this year.

Celtic face a major rebuild this summer, meaning going for the title next season may be slightly more difficult than it has been this term.

Many players are ageing, out of contract or on loan, and Neil Lennon – or any other manager Celtic may appoint – subsequently needs to hit on a number of summer signings.

One key area Celtic must strengthen is right back; experienced duo Mikael Lustig and Cristian Gamboa are both out of contract this summer, whilst loanee Jeremy Toljan hasn’t impressed and won’t be signed permanently.

A host of right backs have been linked with Celtic in recent times, and Polish newspaper Gazecie Wyborcza reported in January that Lech Poznan ace Robert Gumny was a target for Brendan Rodgers.

Of couse, Rodgers has now moved on, but a talented young right back like Gumny is the kind of signing the Bhoys should be looking at.

Gumny is just 20, but has excelled in Poland and is now ready to take the next step forward, and he’s shown exactly why he should still be on the Celtic radar.

Against Lechia Gdansk over the weekend, Gumny caught the eye with his pace and attacking ability, which featured a dazzling run past two defenders – as seen in the video – but no teammate could tap home his cut back.

That kind of attacking play has been missing at right back for Celtic, and add a twinkle-toed talent like Gumny could give the Bhoys exactly what they’re looking for.
