The former Sunderland striker believes that Jack Ross’s side will finish second in the League One table this campaign.
Goodman told Sky Sports regarding which teams will finish in the top two: “1st) Luton, 2nd) Sunderland. Sunderland have taken advantage of Barnsley's wobble, which I didn't really expect. They'll keep their momentum going.”
Sunderland are third in the League One table at the moment with 79 points from 39 matches.
The Black Cats are level on points with second-placed Barnsley, who have played 41 games.
Luton Town are at the top of the league standings at the moment with 87 points from 41 matches and seem set to clinch automatic promotion to the Championship at the end of the season.
Sunderland are in good form at the moment and are winning matches regularly, and the Stadium of Light faithful will be confident that the team will get the job in the coming weeks.
The Black Cats will return to action on Tuesday evening when they take on Burton Albion at the Stadium of Light in League One.
