Has Antonio Valencia just hinted that a reunion with Wayne Rooney is on the cards this summer?

The long-serving Manchester United ace appears to be coming to the end of his 10 year stay at Old Trafford with his contract expiring in the summer.

Valencia has played just one Premier League game since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over in December and the United boss appears to have passed up the opportunity to extend his contract by a further 12 months.

The Sun claimed recently that West Ham were keen to offer the Ecuadorian international the chance to stay in the Premier League with Valencia seen as a potential answer to the club’s problems at right-back.

But Valencia’s social media activity certainly suggests that he has his heart set to the MLS – to Rooney’s DC United in particular. The 33-year-old has retweeted a fan asking him to join the Washington outfit at the end of the season.

Rooney has enjoyed a new lease of life over the Atlantic and it would be little surprise if Manchester United’s all-time record goalscorer has been in touch with his former team-mate.
