Viana’s suitors are said to include Leeds United, Leicester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Watford.
Leeds United, Leicester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Watford are being credited with interest in Bruno Viana.
The Braga defender is hardly a household name, so what should fans of those clubs know about him?
HITC Sport has the lowdown…
What’s the speculation?
Talksport reckons Leeds are ‘considering a move’ for Viana, who Leicester have ‘sent scouts to keep an eye on’ this season. The broadcaster claims Wolves and Watford have each retained an interest’, meanwhile.
Does it say how much he’d cost?
Yes – £8-10 million, apparently. Braga paid around £2.5 million to sign the 24-year-old from Olympiacos last summer (Transfermarkt), and handed him a contract until 2023.
What type of player is he?
Viana is a right-footed centre-back whose strengths include ‘passing’ and ‘concentration’, but not ‘aerial duels’ (Who Scored). The uncapped Brazilian is not the tallest player in his position, standing at just short of 6’2″.
Any notable achievements?
He won the Greek Superleague title with Olympiacos and helped Braga to fourth in last season’s Primeira Liga – a feat he is on course to at least equal this campaign.
Here’s something interesting…
Viana played alongside the respective former Leicester and Watford players, Esteban Cambiasso and Juan Carlos Paredes, at Olympiacos, and the ex-Wolves loanee, Joao Teixeira, at Braga – but no-one with a similar connection to Leeds.
Would Viana be a good addition for Leeds / Leicester / Wolves / Watford?
